So we had our full mortgage appointment over the telephone with HSBC on Monday.
Credit check went through OK, they just require an address confirmation form which is being sent out to us. They have requested we open a joint bank account (which we have done) and have asked which day we would like the mortgage payments to come out of the account.
They have also instructed a valuation on the property.
These feel like good indications but we are talking about HSBC here and I would just like someone else's opinion. We haven't had a letter or email saying you have got a mortgage!
My OH is an optimist where as I am a pessimist and despite his best efforts to reassure me, I am still terrified we will get rejected

You've done the right thing here by following their meeting / sales process. All lenders have a responsibility to make the process transparent, and HSBC are no different. So if you have any questions or require an update on the progression of your application I would raise your query directly to them.
Whilst there are never any guarantees on application outcomes, from what you've said it's sounds promising so far.

Have they asked for payslips etc yet?
The valuation is fairly straightforward but is for their purposes and won't tell you anything about the condition of the property.0 -
Hi Elverson
Payslips and bank statements have already been uploaded to the online application system and the mortagage advisor queried a few things with my partner so they have been looked at (unsure if in depth or not).
We have decided to commission our own homebuyer survey when I questioned it on this forum I was told it wasn't the best idea to have our lender commission these.0
