Please help applied for credit card pre exchange!

Hi there need some urgent advice, I had an offer accepted on a house on the 19/04/16 since then I've had a proper mortgage offer from Nationwide. After speaking to my solicitors on Monday gone we should be ready to exchange by the end of the week. But like a fool I applied for sainsburys 27 month 0% credit card on the 05/06/16 as I want to purchase a new car at the end of the month. Whilst talking to a friend I mentioned this and she informed me that I shouldn't have done this a it can affect my mortgage offer. And after all the threads I've read I think she might be right. So now I am stressing because the search is now showing on my Experian credit report and I also know that Experian is one of the credit agencies that Nationwide use so if they credit me again it will show (they haven't done so yet). I received the credit agreement in the post a few days ago but since learning what I have I have not posted it back in the hopes that the if this credit card does not appear on my report as a new account then hopefully it should not affect my offer, is this the case?? If not do you think it advisable to inform Nationwide (before they see the search) that I have applied for a new credit card but tell them that now I know it will affect my offer I will not be taking the credit card. Or should I call sainsburys and tell them I've changed my mind and request that they erase the search? Can I even do that??? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Its unlikely to make a difference one way or the other, if it does you were a borderline application and this would have tipped it over the edge. The credit check by the credit card company has been done so any potentiall damage is already there.
Do not spend on the card.
