What a waste of time that was. MrsM filled in the on line e-mail request for her NI record. It asks all the pertinent questions, name, address, DOB, NI number etc. Get an e-mail today stating they cannot verify the information so she needs to send a letter asking and provide name, address, DOB and NI number and they will send one out to her. !!!!!! ?!?!?!

It's rubbish anyway - I wanted one to work out my SERPS/S2P, and what they sent was totally useless for this - didn't have what I needed ie earnings on which NI were charged, so useless for checking SERPS/S2P.

I had similar problems trying to do it online despite going through the verification process. To add salt to the wounds I registered to do self assessment, didn't recognise my details and then said as I was a civil servant they couldn't access my records to see what the problem was. Got to do it by post.

You can also update your tax code yourself if it's wrong. Good work bu the gov for a change

Unfortunately if you have not paid the passport tax that avenue is not open.
