Worse thing about applying for a mortgage

We see all types of problems and concerns on this forum, but as a broker I am interested....

For all borrowers and potential borrowers out there - what is the worst thing about applying for a mortgage?

    Definitely the waiting. My lender were good with updates via email and text but all the documentation took so long. They used 2nd class post which for something so important seems ridiculous!

    How long is too long?

    What is the feeling on how long a inexperienced applicant would imagine a mortgage would take to arrange?
