AAT level 4 about to finish

Not sure if this is the right place for this but bare with me:

So I'm pretty sure this has been brought up before but wanting to get peoples views on wage changes when completed level 4. So I'm going to be finishing level 4 in december and will be heading to my boss to ask for a rise. My current package is:

Age 26
AAT Level 2 + 3 qualified
£19000
study support (also prepared to pay for cima)

If anyone is willing of course to give me ideas of wages and what they receive from the company they work for i would greatly appreciate this.

I work in industry also .

Thanks

I work in finance as a newly qualified accountant.

It depends on what role you are in but i would say AAT Level 4 would not increase your salary significantly on its own. You would need to pass the CIMA/ACCA exams for that to happen. After that, if you become qualified then that's when the salary takes a huge jump.

However you should ask for a payrise anyway. Justify this by showing your progress in terms of qualification as well as your value to the company. You should be able to get £2-3k payrise if you're valued.
But there are many AAT qualified people so you wouldn't get much more if you change roles so i'd stay there and keep getting valuable experience.

It will probably cost around £2k to complete CIMA so you will need to put that into your calculations.

I'm 26 just entered 5th year in practice. Salary started at £12k as AAT Level 3, now up to around £39k. Several exams into ACCA.

Although, AAT level 4 only gave me a tiny pay rise I think progression and passion says a lot more about your willingness to succeed at a company. So, all in all, qualifications don't count for everything, a lot boils down to the environment, the company, and you're secondary skills.

You have to put yourself in your employers shoes and ask whether the level 4 status really brings anything to the table for them, or, have you more to offer other than your qualification level? The latter will give you a better chance till you're chartered.
