'From Monday 10 September anyone using public transport, walking, cycling or car sharing in South Yorkshire can start collecting Carbon Quids – the UK's first green currency.
The campaign is being launched by South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) and aims to reward people for making ‘better travel choices’. It is being supported by local councils, transport operators and local businesses.
The unique currency is being introduced as part of European Mobility Week (16 - 22 September 2007) and for a two week period (10 – 22 September) anyone using sustainable travel can collect Carbon Quids.
At the end of the two week period all the Quids can be exchanged for a wide range of prizes, which have been donated by local businesses.'
'They can be exchanged at any of the four Carbon Cash In points, which are being held at Fargate, Sheffield; Rotherham Transport Interchange; Barnsley Transport Interchange and Frenchgate, Doncaster on Saturday 22 September from 1000 to 1600. On the day it will be first come, first served as there are limited numbers of bags available.'
