Monday 13th June - What Small Debt Free Wannabe things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning legomum thanks for starting the thread!

Princess Pea good for you on selling your car! I dream of being a 1 car family. And getting the wecdding venue sorted!

Ok so let's see if I can get to the end of my post without giving up in frustration! (the keyboard curser keeps jumping around and wiping out my post as sometimes it'll highlight some text and if I don't see it I erase it all while typing...)

    Things for today:

    * it's threatening to rain so want to get out in the garden in a minute and do some prep on the garage. Need to brush it down with a wire brush to get off all the flaking paint and fill the cracks. The weather is so annoying! I need at least 4 days where it's not going to rain so I can do the filling & painting but we just don't seem to be getting it! done what I can. Now need rainless day to do the filling

    * cleaned the kitchen and washed up from last night - bad me!

    * clean dw out as it's not cleaning properly

    * flylady

    * sow some radishes and spring onions. Need to find something to sow them in as am out of toughs/large pots....

    * photo some things for fleabay

    * use up at least 3 things from the freezer

    * walk to coop and get bread and and nothing else! Change up left over reals from our holiday. Only about £6 but better than nothing!

Ok that will do. And I made it to the end of my post. Yay!

    Hi June Jubilatants,

    Thanks for the starter Lego.

<Staggers off the plane and in the back door.> We're back! Just a quick post today as I'm very tired. Lovely holiday had, anyway. Second best ever. We did quite a few money-saving things: didn't buy Add Ons at the hotel, self-catered for breakfast and lunch, sought out vouchers before we left, did lots of free activities, took taxis once or twice as these were cheaper than buses, at in the restaurants the locals frequented whenever possible as these are ridiculously cheap. We went to the capital of the island and ate in a local cafe just off the tourist track: £4.20 for a baguette, a salad and two soft dinks. The nearest tourist restaurant wanted £12 for the same. We did spend some money on treats but we were choosy about what we bought.

Awful news about the shootings in the US.

    It was also lovely
to come back to a clean, organised house and to just whip some homemade chilli out the freezer for lunch.

So much to do now though! We got home at 7am and slept for a bit and then found the energy to do the washing and unpack. One of the downfalls of a cheap holiday is the Red Eye flights!

Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:

    * Cheese and cold meats out the freezer. These were frozen as we couldn't consume them before we went away.

    * All remaining miniature toilettries decanted back into their original bottles.

    * We took just a few clothes away with us and handwashed them each day...however, still had a massive amount of laundry to do as some garments were well and truly "trashed" during our days on beaches and in boats.

    * Pleased we took needle and thread with us as OH's bikini fell apart  and this allowed us to rescue it.

    * Also please we had the idea of taking a large net with us as this meant we could pin it across the patio doors at night to allow us to sleep in the heat without being mosquito-icated.

    * Was pleased we packed our toilettries inside tupperware boxes as one mini bottle leaked a little in transit and it might have damaged something if it hadn't been. Also pleased we took a sheet of bubble-wrap with us so the bottles we bought could get home safely.

How about you folks? I have so much to do tomorrow...
