On or inside envelope?

I want to enter competitions by post namely the itv good morning Britain ones where it says on or inside an envelope ..I don't want to enter on a postcard where my name and phone number can be seen so want to enter by envelope however unsure if when they say on or inside an envelope do they mean writing my details on a piece of paper or just write inside the envelope? Does anyone have any idea?

    Just had a look at T & C

    http://www.itv.com/terms/competitions?oid=1823&type=tcs&origin_type=tcs&origin_oid=all

    Just says

Post - send your name, contact telephone number (including area code if providing a landline number) as well as your answer to the competition entry question as indicated in the Programme to the following address: BRK 2416, PO Box 7558, Derby, DE1 0NQ.

You could try emailing and ask their advice.

    Good luck

    The main T&C's apply
Postal entry: Postal entrants may enter the promotion by mailing their full name and a contact telephone number (including area code if providing a landline number) or other method of contact (as applicable), as well as other required information and/or material to the postal address as specified in the interaction information. Entries must be sent on a postcard or on or within an envelope

As already suggested you could e-mail them, although I doubt they want you to actually write on the inside of an envelope so they would have to carefully tear it apart to see what you had written.

When entering competitions by post eg: itv competitions it says entering on a postcard or envelope ...I am against entering my phone number on a postcard for all to see but am unsure about using an envelope do you put your name on a piece of paper inside the envelope doesn't seem very clear. And I am wondering how these postal entries are actually dealt with?
    Anyone know ...

Not sure why you are so against putting your phone number on a back of a postcard - probably only 1 person will see it

You post your postcard into the postbox - along comes the postman to collect and empties everything into a sack (he won't see it as he is too busy putting all the stuff into the sack)
Postman then delivers all the sacks to the sorting office which is all done my machine sorting - again, nobody sees your phone number.
As ITV will have many thousands of postcards going to them - all their mail will be sorted into a large sack which is then delivered to the ITV PO Box - nobody will see your number whilst it is in the sack
Once at destination - someone then opens the sacks and enters each of the postcard details into a database - this then is the only person that see's your number.

Online competitions ask for phone numbers most of the time - you never know who see's it, or what they do with it

When I emailed them, a while back, with the same question I received this reply

Thank you for your enquiry regarding ITV competitions.

I can confirm that you can send your postal entry in a sealed envelope or on a postcard. You can find out more information about the terms of our competitions at the following link:
