accepted for car finance, then they change agreement.
Hi,
Ive been interested in getting a new (used) car for a little while and decided to do a bit of shopping around. ive settled on a make and model and found a nice one online. It said they accept poor credit etc and to apply, just click this button for a 5 minute application. So i went ahead and got a call the next day saying ive been accepted and to let them know when im going viewing a car. So i called them up and told them the dealership to be told they dont deal with them anymore, even though i applied from the dealerships website which then took me to the finance brokers website. Ok fair enough i thought, just a bit of bad luck, they havent updateed the website. So he asked what car i wanted to then be told they dont finance cars older than 2006. So theyve blatantly advertised to finance a car they cant finance. Now i have 2 choices, find a different, newer model or cancel and try and get finance elsewhere.
The only issue is my score is 212 and im guessing that credit check isnt going to do me any favours on that aswell?
Any advice?
Thanks

carfinance247 are supplying the finance. And what you do is find a car from a dealership. go view it, if you like it call them up and they arrange payment with the dealership.
Im not too sure on my credit files. He told me my score and said its low because ive had 1 default in the past and ive had a lack of credit. So ideally want to build it back up and get a car in the process. Im unsure weather to apply elsewhere or will my chance of acceptance be less now ive had another check on my file?

Just seems like a bad way to do things.
Every time I have taken car finance the following has occurred:
1) Find a car
2) Test drive it
3) Agree price with dealer
4) Ask if any better deals available (sometimes by taking finance they give a better deal as they get commission)
5) Dealer arranges finance
6) sign the agreement after I have read it and happy with contents
7) drive car away.
I have never seen a situation where you agree finance before finding and test driving a car to make sure you like it and nothing obvious is wrong with it.0 -
Carfinance 247 are brokers. Your finance WONT be with them but they will find a finance company who will accept you. Most finance companies will only finance cars up to 13 years old BUT if you are looking for a 5 year deal, the vehicle usually has to be under 10 years.
It is not unusual for a person to change their mind on the vehicle after the underwriters have accepted an individual for finance.0 -
i agree its a bad way to do things, im a mechanic and know that buying a car is always a risk. But i know my chances of finance are slim so thought i would try and get credit first as the chance would be low, if accepted then go and see the car, it did say i was in no contract by just applying. Everybodys circumstances are different, i did things the way that suited my situation best. The car im looking at is quite rare, the nearest ones within budget and spec are 100+ miles away, so hardly poping round to the nearest dealership for a quick test drive unfortunately.
Correct 247 car finance are brokers, i did confirm that in my first post, i was looking for a 4 year or shorter deal as i am now on a good wage but he said they have a strict 10 year and 100 rule.
Do they have to share the lenders details if i ask them?

The person you spoke will have no idea what you score is, lenders don't see it so don't focus too much on it.0 -
