White trainers filthy, how to clean them?

DS2 has a pair of expensive white trainers with mesh uppers. He went to a party last night and they are literally black.
I do have a trainer wash program on the washing machine but I tried this on another pair of trainers and wasn't all that impressed. If I do try this again what temperature can I wash them at without them falling to bits?

5 pages of suggestions re washing white trainers. That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Just out of interest a lot of the posts on the other thread talked about baby wipes/cif type cleaning products which was no good because my sons trainers are mesh. In the end I scrubbed them liberally with spray bleach and stuck them in the washing machine on a 30 degree sports shoe cycle. They havent exactly come up like new but pretty close to it.
No nasty smell either.0 -

You might try washing them again but using dishwasher soap this time...if you have a dishwasher.
I had grubby boys and a husband who was a coach. Dishwasher detergent even took grass stains out of white shorts.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Another question. What's the quickest way of drying them especially if it,s not a nice hot sunny day and you can,t leave them out in the sunshine to dry0
