Engagement parties

Whats your view on engagement parties?
Are they a nice touch to an engagement or a waste of valuable time, money and effort that could be put towards the wedding

I personally wouldnt bother, but obviously it is what you want

I think a small gathering of friends and family for a bbq is really nice idea rather than go to the extreme of hiring a hall, disco, caterers etc.

well i think theyre a great idea! im getting married well over a year away, and as were not the most social of bunnies we havent seen many of our friends for a long time so it was the perfect excuse! we held it in a bar where you can also hire pool tables which we did. we hired 3 at 45 quid for all three for the whole evening whch kept the men happy! everyone bought their own drinks including all the ones me and my other half drunk! we got loads of card, a bunch of flowers and even a bottle of bollingers were keeping!! we were able to take loadsa pictures and catch up with people. everyone had a great time, and most even ordered food from the bar when they got peckish! i had ummed and arrrred about it but so glad i did! im going to have an album of engagement party pics to go before my wedding pics!

best 45 ive ever spent on hosting a party!
