It has to be fair. I think in this case, where you have the option of a two tier system of pricing, and the OP chose the cheaper, non flexible one, it is fair. I would just use them OP and have a family break.
  • Thanks zagfles. That's very interesting.

My Mum used to tell me 'If you can't say something nice, don't say anything.' Perhaps some of the keyboard bullies here should head that advice. There is no need for insults.

Heed :) There has been some fairly blunt comments, but I can see why people are irritated. You bought the cheaper 'no refund' tickets and are now complaining that they won't refund. It's a tad hypocritical. That said, I agree with those that have suggested you use the tickets and have a holiday. I certainly wouldn't write off £700 worth of tickets. I'd find something else to do.
  • I have just had an email from Peter Strachan the MD of Caledonian Sleeper confirming that I will be getting a full refund. They're not even charging an admin fee.

I'm really glad that I didn't listen to the more negative comments. Many thanks for the helpful ones.

Martin Lewis wouldn't have accepted it and neither would I!!

Have you asked him? Because while he might congratulate you for getting a refund I doubt very much if he would feel that you were in any way entitled to one.

I feel that they have been very fair with you here. A goodwill gesture due ot the wedding being called off perhaps? Legally, you didn't have a leg to stand on I am afraid.
