Am I due Pension Credit

Hi
I'm certain this question has been asked many times, but I have looked in old posts but not found it so far.
Today I received Martin's email and there was the article about Pension Credit. I hit 65 last year (July). I get £143 a week and it seemed that possibly I could get pension credit.
I rang the Freephone number and the very polite lady seemed to be stating that I was not due pension credit because of my birth date and I seen to fall into an age group who will not get any more.
Is this so?

It certainly doesn't sound right to me.
As far as I can see you fall into the correct age range, and if that £143 is your only household income then it sounds to me like you should qualify.0
