Hi there, I have a mortgage with Ascendon, they have just sent me a letter which says that I am in arrears by a £1000.00 plus they have also included in this Insurance related charges and Fees and Security Related Charges, which comes to a substantial amount which they are expecting me to pay, I understand the actual arrears but can they make me pay the other fees as they are not actual arrears, please help as I need to write to them today.
Many thanks

In a nutshell, if the fees were in the T&Cs of your mortgage, then yes you will owe them.0 -

If they dont apply to you, which seems unlikely but its hard to say as you give no details, it seems your position must be that you can get into arrears and then repay only what you owe at a time of your choosing without any penalties at all. Which doesn't sound likely or reasonable.
I presume your mortgage was passed on to this company, was that after you got into difficulties?
You could try posting on the loans or debt free boards where they know more about what can be done. It may be you need to address the bigger problem via some sort of restructuring of the mortgage which the folks on those forums would know about.0
