Littlewoods account problem

So I bought a kindle from littlewoods last year. Buy now pay later - paid off before the end of the 12 months.

It ended up with a fault this year so rang up to send it back. I had also purchased extended service plan thingy.

I sent it back without the cables (ok my fault) so it was returned straight back to me.

I booked another collection (understanding I may have to pay for this) Courier never turned up.

In the meantime of getting it sent back to littlewoods again I went onto my account to purchase some more items. To my shock there was a charge applied to my account for £241.18 for the same kindle! This is the one that was now in my possession, thankfully I hadn't gotten round to sending it back again.

I have since refused to send this item back to littlewoods as no one can tell me why I have this amount added to my account.

I have been advised on two separate occasions now that this was done in error and it will be removed. Both customer service advisors said they would ring me back and they did not.(the last time I called was over a week ago)
So I have left it until today to see if this has been changed. I have checked my account today and the charge is still showing. This has also put my account over its limit and I am unable to order any more items. (not that i will use this account now anyway)

I have rang again today and
I have been told that when an item is sent back to littlewoods that has been a buy now pay later item (even if it has been paid in full) they charge your standard side of the account for the full credit cost of the item???
They are trying to match this charge with some kind of payment on their system to remove it!
Placed on hold as I refused to let them call me back. The staff member even asked me to trust her! I obviously refused as I have no trust left in the Littlewoods brand or its staff

(with a long hold again to an expensive number – a phone call this time which was in excess of 1 hr 20 mins by the time we closed this call)
Low and behold the answer I was given this time … after on the phone to the 0844 number
I have been charged twice for this item and this matter will be escalated to accounts support department (this has already – to my knowledge – been done twice)
They agree that you can’t be charged for this. They need to have me leave this problem with them again and have promised to call me tomorrow name precious – 11.30am – with her boss
I’ll be waiting!! .. again!!
My online account is basically asking for me to pay down the account to use it again and is constantly showing as over its limit - which is affecting my credit score as each month my credit file is now updated with the over limit amount and creditors can see I'm over the agreed credit limit!!
Can a company really do this to you under uk law? Have I unwittingly signed up to this by not checking the credit agreement I was signing at the beginning of opening this account?

Why are you calling an 0844 number? The number for after sales is 0344 8228000.

If you don't get a call back in the morning then ask for the complaints team. Also post on Facebook and Twitter to get their attention.

If the paperwork from Littlewoods directed you to call an 0844 number, make sure your call costs are refunded.

    http://legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2013/3134/regulation/41/made

If they had their act together, calling the old 0844 number would result in hearing an announcement telling callers to hang up and re-dial the 0344 number.
