Meibomitis..have you suffered with it?

Been diagnosed with this eyelid condition for a few months now and it doesn't appear to be going away anytime soon.

I am carrying out the usual hot compress, lid massage and lid cleaning. I am also on a course of antibiotics.

Has anyone had this problem and managed to keep it well under control? I have avoided wearing eye makeup aswell. It's really getting me down because nothing is helping to even reduce the symptoms?

I had this a few years ago, and was told to cleanse my eye lids. Which I tried, with mixed success for some time. Then I discovered omega-3 supplements have been studied and found to help. Taking those for a while cleared the problem up entirely for me, and I've continued taking them since.

If your lids are stuck together of a morning, try lacrilube (or equivalent).

Antibiotics supposedly kill off the bugs on your eyelids, but they come back again when you stop taking them. They really should stop dishing them out like sweets, as they're often ineffective and they contribute to bug-resistance.

I have started to take flaxseed oil capsules as I'm a veggie. So I am hoping they help. Probably taken them for approximately a month now.

My eyelids don't stick together. They are swollen and the rims are red.

I just can't seem to get it under control for some reason. I think I am on the last month's course of antibiotics, if there's no change I'll have to go back to the doctors and ask them to refer me to the local eye infirmary. I'm getting pretty desperate to get it under control.
