Strawberry Jam problem

Help made some strawberry jam which worked out ok apart from all the strawberries have gone to the top of the jar. Should I have chopped the strawberries into smaller pieces? I kept them whole.

Any advice gratefully received have made jam before but never strawberry.

When using whole fruits you should leave the Jam to set for 15 mins before putting into jars. This stops the fruit from rising

I tried that. Ended up with strawberry jelly as my 'helper' wasn't planning to leave the strawberries to wait...
