Family& Friends Railcard Question

Options
4 adults and 3 children train tickets East Midlands > London ( for 4 days ) getting a decent discount using a Family & Friends Railcard.

But only 2 adults and 3 children will use the return tickets back home to the East Midlands

The other 2 adults will be flying to USA from Heathrow so will forgo using the return tickets (even though they have been paid for )

Is this permissible?

I think it is because the F&F Railcard holder, wife and the kids are the relevant part of the rules being followed.

Yes of course that is allowed.

Think about it... on the return trip how could anyone possibly know that there were four adults on the outward leg?

I`ve not travelled by train for ages and this is the first time I`ve used the F&F Railcard ( free courtesy of The Sun ) so wasn`t too sure whether it would just be an individual ticket with "4 Adults + 3 Kids" printed on it

Actually they aren't always indiviual tickets. I have seen a ticket with just 2 adults on it. I can't remember which train company now though.
