IVA advice, please...

I've been in my IVA for over 6 months and was wondering if it was possible to move in with my partner into rented accommodation? We are both currently living with our parents, but due to medical grounds, they are no longer able to live with theirs. And we'd like to be able to move somewhere together...
If they were to produce a letter from their GP stating something along the lines of this, would it affect my IVA or would my IVA stop me from moving elsewhere...?!
Am soooo confuddled...!

I am unaware of any restriction as to where you live whilst on an IVA, hb.

You MAY find it difficult to sign a rental contract if there is a clause in the agreement which excludes people on IVA's, but, whilst this is often the case with bankrupts, I don't think it applies to people on IVAs.
You MAY also need to discuss, with your Insolvency Practitioner, the implications that moving may have on your Income/Expenditure, and whether this may affect your ability to keep to your monthly payments.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. Aye!
But my partner is on IB and currently seeking to get DLA, so would this go in our favour as we could possibly get housing benefit, as they suffer mental health issues. I dunno...0 -

Best to discuss this with CAB, harvey - it's not something I would either wish to, or feel qualified, to comment on - sorry.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. Sorry about that, hb. Personally I would talk to the CAB first - your IP/IVA company have a 'vested' interest in you, whereas advice from CAB is totally independent - but talk to both, anyway.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. Just a query,
Reading between the lines:
Both living with parents (so don't own property)
Partner receiving Incapacity Benefit and considering DLA.
Looking to rent property together.
.......So why an IVA and not bankruptcy ??0 -

Just so that you know:
There is a website where you can search the names of all people that currently bankrupt
The SAME website lists the names of all people, together with their addresses who have entered into an IVA.
Therefore, the same site lists the same information. In the case of IVA's, this is recorded with ALL credit reference agencies and it stays on your records for 6 years.....it used to be 12 years !!! Most IP's WILL NOT tell you this !!!
We currently have 7 clients who have declared themselves bankrupt within the past year....not one of them has had their name in a local newspaper.....none of them has found any problems at all. But most importantly, because each bankruptcy was thought through and planned in advance......3 have been released early. One this morning after just 7 months.......
The rate of failure for IVA's is simply staggering.....with the insolvency practitioner petitioning for the bankruptcy, and dont forget the IP is not representing YOU but the creditors.0 -

It's all about pride an' that!
hb - your perception of bankruptcy, and its effects, is all wrong, my friend - have a look at the Bankruptcy and Living with it board.
It does not work like that anymore - honest.
