Proud to be dealing with my debt

I have noticed his on a few signatures, and it seems to be only on the DFW's people. I greatly admire each and every one of them. I wish that I had been in the position to sort it all out.

But, I must admit, that I feel proud to have dealt with my debt too. To have faced up to a situation that was pretty hopeless. To have taken the agonizing decision to declare bankruptcy rather than denied my son a decent childhood because of living from hand to mouth. To have risked all my family relationships over property, stand my ground and TELL everyone this was GOING to happen, and that family Wills had to be re-written. Proud that I could stand toe to toe with my partner and tell him that even if it meant us as a couple spliting up - that I had to do what I considered important and my only option.

I am also proud to have dealt with my debts ;-)

I was tempted to put "Proud to have dealt with my debts" in my sig.

Decided not to in the end, as a tiny minority of people tend to take offence.

    Doesn't mean I'm not 'proud' though. :D

  • "Proud to be dealing with my debts" is the DFW board slogan, as detailed here.

Although the 'Bankruptcy & Living With It" is a sub/child-forum of DFW, I've never felt that the slogan was meant to include us, & it comes across to me as implying that we have nothing to be proud of because we'd gone the BR route. I'm not keen on it because of the divisive feeling it gives me - after all, the sticky about it on DFW wasn't also posted in this board, although many people come to this board who never go on DFW & so wouldn't have even known a vote was being taken. I'm not saying anyone's said we shouldn't use it, it's just the way I feel about it. I'm very proud of having dealt with my debts, but I don't see any reason to state that in my sig. :)
