Buying new summer duvets

As the warmer weather is here I am looking at buying new summer duvets for myself and our children.
I would prefer to buy a decent one that will last a number of years, that can be washed and dried in the the tumble drier if needed and then stored for the winter.
However the one I bought last year I had to throw away at the end of the nice weather as it looked shabby, very thin and not worth the money I paid for it.
So my question is is the hollow fibre duvets that tend to be very cheap and like my last one or what should my new ones be filled with please to ensure I can wash and tumble dry and get more than one summers use from (environmental factor to consider also)
I do have a smashing winter quilt but there isnt a tag to say what its filled with.
Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!

I only buy feather duvets - though in the hottest parts of summer I only tend to use sheets and a blanket.

A low tog feather in spring or autumn lets you breath, ages well, washes okay (but you have to shake it repeatedly when drying to ensure it's dried through), and stores well.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

We got the cheapest (at the time) 1.5 tog duvet from Ebay.
    No problems :)

We use a 4.5 tog feather & down quilt all year round, it's regularly machine washed and tumble dried, we've had it years, so long I can't even remember when we got it.
