Anyone tried to eat low carb whilst vegan or veggie? I really need to lose a lot of weight and I did lose 2 stone 2 years ago by reducing carbs.. I wondered if any of you try and eat low carb, being veggie, and what kinds of things do you eat> I've been living off salad and a quorn burger and I'm getting really bored!
Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE

How about a chilli made with different beans with cauliflower rice?
I make my cauli rice by spraying a roasting dish with Fry light, then grating into it however much cauliflower I fancy, then liberally sprinkling herbs and spices (I usually use cumin, chilli powder, black pepper, paprika, but anything goes), few more sprays of Fry light then in the oven for 12 minutes0 -
if you go to lowcarbfriends there are a few people lowcarbing who are veggie
its an american site good for all sorts of lowcarb info and recipesWhen you know better you do better0 -
Also, if you're vegan, you should check the ingredients in Quorn. They have some vegan products but not many from the looks of it.0

Try replacing carbs with beans and pulses - make a vegetable curry with plenty of chickpeas or lentils and you won't even miss the rice! Same for Mexican-inspired dishes, you can add black or kidney beans instead of rice / tortillas.
You can also make a lentil loaf, or bean burgers to have with a big green salad. As a vegetarian / vegan it's impossible to completely cut out carbs, so just focus on the "good" carbs which will also bring you plenty of protein and fibre, like quinoa instead of rice or wheat. And as always for weight loss, portion control is very important (and it's the worst part of any diet for me haha)

I'm vegetarian and have been on Michael Mosley's 5:2 diet for six weeks.
I've found it very easy, using recipes in his book and that of Mimi Spencer who collaborated with him.
I love potatoes but haven't missed them at all and have lost 10lbs.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

There's also soups and stir fry. I also like kebabs, usually mushrooms and peppers, and halloumi and pineapple - smaller halloumi pieces work for me, it's delicious, but eat too much and the salty taste is too much. I also like lentil dahl.0

I've been vegetarian for about 25 years, and switched to low carb about 3.5 years ago. This was for health reasons rather than weight, but I did as a side effect lost around 3 stone which was nice.
And have been much healthier since - both in terms of how I feel, but also borne out by test results I've had before/after the switch.
It's absolutely possible, and once you start you see it's not difficult really. There are plenty of options for what to eat out there.
I started with this book:

A couple of other good recipe books I use often are:

And this has some lovely unusual recipes:
