Post Office Pension

Hi all,

Is there anyone who can maybe shed some light or point me in the right direction. Maybe only worth a few pence but it all adds up. I worked in the Post Office from 1979 - 1982 and I believe that a pension payment was automatically deducted from my salary. Question is, is there anyone who can confirm this or point me in the right direction...Post Office state "it's too far back to search records"

The booklet (2012) has no reference to new state pension so if you are not yet state pension age, see

I would guess that you weren't in long enough to earn a preserved benefit, so would have been due a refund of your own contributions (less tax etc.) instead (covering legislation brought the minimum period down to 2 years only in 1988).
