Halifax £750 Cash Back & Motgage query?

I've had a chap from the Halifax Bank call me saying that they are currently offering £750 cash back on completion if I transfer my mortgage to them. They will also pay all the fees too.


I've only got a small mortgage of around £20,000 with 6 years left to pay & my fix with Santander had just ended so I'm on their standard rate just now.


Its only a small house, worth around £80,000.


Apparently this offer ends at end of next week so I'm wondering if its a no brainer, or if anyone has had any bad experiences with Halifax with this offer? Was wondering if there were any drawbacks to this offer.


Its a good few years since ive re-mortgaged, so what is the process like just now, will I have to go through a lot of affordability questions etc?


Also as I'm a paid Carer for my step son I rely on the payments he receives from the Local Authority, whilst we've not been told anything, Local authorities are always it seems trying to cut care packages, and I'm worried a bit that if I switched mortgages to a new provider and if his care package was drastically cut, how that would affect me & my ability to pay the mortgage. Would a new provider be less sympathetic than my existing one (Santander) who ive been with for several years...or are none of them basically sympathetic in these situations?


I'm a bit of a worry wart at times & don't really like changing things to often. any advice be much appreciated.

Can't comment on Halifax, but from what I read, most lenders do do an affordability check and ask tedious irrelevant questions. Even if the risk is reduced for them.
