Getting a job when homeless?

I'm actually looking for a bit of help on a piece of research I'm doing, there's some really knowledgeable people on this forum and I'm hoping they might be able to help...
Just how hard is it to find a job if you're homeless? I'm writing a briefing paper on the government's policy on ex offenders and their rehabilitation. Some papers seem to have a disproportionate amount of focus on the importance of finding work and training, and less so on settling them in safe accommodation. I have a strong feeling it's hard to find a job if you don't have a home address, so this is cart before horse in a way...
Am I right? Please share any information?

I think you have to seek permission before using the forums for research?
Also, if you are doing research on a specific topic would it not be better to get feedback from people who are either in this situation, or who have definitive knowledge of this situation, working with ex-offenders, or homeless people (or both) for example, rather than some anonymous people on a moneysaving forum.
That is what i would do anyway fwiw.0 -
Oh I never even thought I'd be breaking rules, just trying to see if I'm on the right track before digging further! I'd need stats and everything to back it up, but I wonder if I'm thinking correctly... that was all.0

Oh I see, I am sure people on here will be able to help you in general with your research, rather than being participants, so to speak.0 -
It may be breaking the rules, but it's in a good cause, so...
Yes, it is hard to access work and training if you are in a situation of being homeless. It's hard enough anyway, being an ex-offender. I know of one project run by an organisation called Voluntary Action Leeds which works with offenders in prison, and also with young people who are or at risk of being offenders - they use volunteering as a method of helping provide stability. I don't know a lot about their projects, but I talked to someone from there a few months ago about what they are doing, and it sounded good. I'm sure they'd talk to you.0
