Gran Fondo Giro d'Italia road closure chaos

I wrote to the organisers of the Giro d'Italia about this, assuming they'd want feedback to try and improve things. Apparently not! I've just received a rather curt reply. I mentioned the roads that were closed and weren't meant to be, marshals who directed people the wrong way, roads closed for much longer than advertised , lack of information given to local residents etc. They just dismissed everything.

It's a shame as they should be trying to encourage support and co-operation from local residents, not annoy people. All these issues could be improved with a bit of organisation (if they wanted to).

Part of the problem is that events like the NW200 are on the same roads every time whereas 'floating' events cover a wider area which is different each time. If you buy a house on the NW course, you know in advance when the roads will be closed, and you have the choice to buy there or somewhere else. These recent events have given no such choice to residents, road closures are forced on them.
Perhaps there is merit in always using 'tradional' routes".........
