Food slicer

Can anyone please recommend a food slicer, e.g. for slicing gammon, roast beef, meat loaves etc?

I've a very old Bosch compact one, at least 20 years old. Still works pretty well but can be a bit fiddly. However I've used newer ones and they seem just as fiddly at times ( base of the meat holder not staying true to the blade)
Least it comes apart and is easily cleaned
I use mine for beef joints and gammon and believe me, you can really stretch a joint0 -
Mine's 'in storage' so I don't know what make it is. (I don't really need it , as we rarely have joints, now the offspring have left).
However,my first was a hand operated one and was hopeless, as you had to position it for the handle to turn and the pressure required tended to pull away the suckers causing the machine to hop along the worktop.
The electric ones are heavier,so less prone to coming unstuck and need much less effort, but dismantling and washing down is a nuisance, unless you need to slice a lot of food in one session.0 -
I had an Amazon voucher for my recent birthday, and have used it to place an order for a compact slicer so will see how I get on. So excited ......

I have Kenwood, bought from L*k*l*nd some years ago. It all comes to pieces easily for cleaning and I've used it for meat and bread successfully.
My top tip: Keep the box to remind yourself how it all goes together again. It's really easy but to a complete idiot like me it was like a Chinese puzzle the first few times I did it.

I bought 1 last year as for the 1st time in my life I have the cooking bug. Used it once and put it back on the top shelf, just don't find I need it.
The mincing machine/sausage maker however, :T:T:T:T:T:T, can't figure out what I did without it.
Top tip get 1 of these, invaluable, £15 in Tesco last time I looked

I have an andrew james. It is excellent, in fact I will be using it later. I made 4 large loaves this morning and will slice and freeze this evening. It was also very useful for a family gathering when I had to slice enough beef for quite a few people. 3 different blades are provided and I tend to keep the bread blade on as I use that most often. It was worth the cost and I happily give it storage space in a cupboard.0

I use a carving knife and sharpening steel. Chickens, Roast Beef, Porks, and everything falls easily when they see the grating of me sharpening with the steel. Proper tools!0

I'm of the same persuasion, even after buying one.
Bought mine for slicing Salami etc, does an admirable job for that, but on meat, not for me.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
