Vodafone Ruining My Life

Vodafone have put a default on my credit report and are causing me undue stress and anxiety due to a phone I had stolen in Barcelona. The thieves stole my phone and within a few hours racked up a bill over £2,000 by rimgimg premium numbers and putting them on hold to ring the same numbers - over 900 calls were made.
It is clear that my phone was used as some sort of organised crime activity and there have been many cases in the press of Vodafone lumping other people with bills like this, only to retract when brought to the attention of the press.
I am now at the point of contacting press. Has anyone got any other tips on how to deal with this situation or anyone had a similar experience?

Hi,
Bit of a torrid tale, Mobile phone companies are eager to take your money, not so eager to help when help is needed.
I am assuming you have followed the written complaint route ?
If not, that would be a first step, failing that, there are two "ombudsman services" that provide complaints resolution for the mobile industry.
Check which one covers Vodaphone, (Google is your friend here) then pass your complaint on to them, they work a bit like the FOS do on financial matters, so will give you a fair result.
But you must allow the operator time to resolve the matter first, only then can the ombudsman become involved.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi Sourcrates,
I have contacted the ombudsman and am in the process of sending evidence to them - not sure if they can help as the account seems to have been sold on to a DCA now.
Also going to request a SAR from Vodafone and in the process of contacting the press with my story.
Find it absolutely disgusting how phone companies (mostly Vodafone it seems) will happily take this amount of money off people - I have only just graduated, I can't afforrd that! Numerous phone calls were made to premium rate numbers at the same time, clearly suspicious activity but Vodafone couldn't' they care less whose lives they ruin as long as they make a profit.
Thank you for your input0 -
Vodafone customer service is awful and so many people have had bad experiences with them.
Good luck, the ombudsman are good and may well helpMortgage Start - August 2013 £145,000 ************ Balance at April 2017 - £59,000
