    Have you used one before?

    Just a word of warning.
We changed ours after I had back problems with ours.
I believe I probably had some "muscular imbalance" before getting the bed but the bed certainly triggered the problem IMO.
I have had physio and suffered from pain for a number of years (and it's not simple to fix so I expect to suffer to some degree for the rest of my life).

I think you will find physios are split on whether they are good or bad.

If you are someone who lies still all night you will probably have no problem, but if you are someone who moves a lot (like I do) then they are extremely difficult to move on (as there is nothing to push agasint) and it has caused a serious muscular imbalance for me.

If you have no back problems at present then I would caution you against getting one. I'm sure there are plenty of people who will tell you otherwise.

I would just say do your own research.

Google on the web and I'm sure you will find a wide array of opinions from "wonderful" to "induced years of pain for me".

Also if you have a new house, check that the joists will take the weight of the water.
We have a new house (built 2003) and the builders told us that they are not strong enough for waterbeds. I'm sure they were covering their backs, but it's something else to consider.
  • Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

Saw a place at the home show at the weekend called Village waterbeds, no idea if they are any good though
