Verifying Passport For anti money laundering

Hi all,
I have been asked by my solicitor to get my mum to comein to verify her passport to fulfill criteria to prevent money laundering, as she is giving us the deposit for our house. the trouble is we live in Aberdeen and she lives in London, she is coming up for a weekend but obviously the solicitors is shut. I asked my solicitors the options as I know that the post office and other occupations are on the list for verifying documents but I was informed that it is a different list for the money laundering thing and it can only be a solicitor, and if it is not them then my mum has to go to one down south then they (not my mother) have to post the verification to my solicitors.
For this specific reason are their any other people that can verify documents as I can imagine she will get charged a fortune to go into a random solicitors to get docs verified.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

A notary public can certify documents. Expensive though.:footie:

yeah as Thrugelmir said, she has to be there, I don't think showing her relationship to me on her facebook account would be enough to satisfy she is my mother by proxy. I was hoping another person could sign it that would be around on a weekend0
