Contribute to pension in European Countries while i am living and working the UK

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows if we can contribute to the state pension any of those countries austria, sweden and spain while i am working and living in the UK and if this is possible can we get multiple state pensions from those countries.

Is very long story why we would like to do that. My wife mother lives in Spain and her father lives in Sweden and i am from Germany while my parent lives in Austria :-) we are all over Europe. Me and my wife been working in the UK for the last 15 years and i dont want to move out of the UK because of my job and us and the kids like it here. But when it comes to retirement age we would like to live between those countries not just visit.

The only thing we are aware of we can get UK state pension abroad.

Your help and comments much much appreciated.

Thanks again

I don't understand the problem - you do not intend to move from the UK pre retirement so are building your state pension here - you are contributing to an occupational/private pension here - when you come to draw the state or occupational/private pension, your payments will be made to your bank account which you can access wherever you are?

The state pension in the UK is really low if we are living in Sweden. Is more expensive to live in Sweden than UK. We are looking for anyone knows about Contribute to pension in European Countries? Thank you.

Then you need to save more money yourselves. State pensions are a safety net only. Not intended to provide for a comfortable retirement. I'd like to live in Monaco but will remain a pipe dream.

Then start a private pension here and contribute as much as you can so as to build your retirement nest egg - remember that pension contributions can attract tax relief.

Your first port of call should be checking with your employer if the company have a pension scheme which they contribute into.

My other half spent a few years working in France and built entitlement to a French state pension.

If you want to contribute to the state pension of another EU state then you will have to do what he did - go and work in that country!
