Thank you for your thoughts and time.
I think I now know what pension plan I have and what I need to do. So, I have sent an email to the companies pensions manager with a range of questions and points that need clarifying. I have also asked for a transfer value and a GMP/RST calculation.
Once I have these points I should be able to run some annuity quotes and work out the best options. I can then also look at the need to transfer the pension away or leave it where it is.
