BHS sad news but great bargains

It's really sad to hear about BHS and the stores closing and all those people loosing their jobs. But with sadness comes bargains, I went today and bought a Joseph Joseph advanced chopping board for £36. Post your bargains!

  • Grabbing these bargains would make me feel like those old crones who knitted at be-headings, its terribly sad that over 11,000 jobs will be lost and ANOTHER 163 holes appear in our sparse high streets.

    Just my opinion you understand

How can any chopping board, priced at £36, be called a bargain????

Sorry, but if that's a 'bargain' they can keep it!

No wonder they went bust while IKEA thrives with their £5 chopping boards.

BHS has been overpriced and highly uncompetitive in all ways for some time, I'm in no way surprised but it is sad that people will lose their jobs :(

Why would anyone want a branded chopping board . Wouldn't it be tucked away in a drawer after cooking is done?

And £36:eek: surely a mistake especially posting on MSE?

It is hardly sale of the century! JL have it at £45.00.

To be fair, this site is not "buy the cheapest thing you can find" but *money saving*. If someone has wanted one of these for ages and found it comparatively cheaply, then why not post it?!

Totally agree! Wanted to buy a dressing gown not so long ago and it turned out to be cheaper to go to M&S!
(Went to Dorothy Perkins in the end which, linked was linked to the same owner at the time; same quality which makes no sense to me; why sell the same (more or less) items elsewhere within the same company? It just irritates customers and makes them think they're being laughed at.

This is just the 20% off that they've had for most of the past year, the closing sale has not yet begun.

You could have bought them from Amazon for £35.

Perhaps some understanding of what actually constitutes a bargain is needed?

I shall miss BHS. Have to travel 80 mile round trip for it so never went often. However I used to go every December to spend my love2shop vouchers in the sale. Always got the grandkids a couple of outfits and a few stocking fillers for the whole family
