Hi, silly question but are you sure the payment has not been taken already , you do hear of people not checking bank accounts etc for weeks or even months ?0

Many thanks fusionx212. CTSI are going to call me back. I'll let you know their thoughts.
micky2phones, nope, definitely not. There was no direct debit set up. They pass the onus on to the consumer to pay the credit (in time), and wouldn't allow me to set up a direct debit at the time.0 -
So let's say that it turns out they legally can't claim the money for the TV. Considering you still agreed to pay the full amount will you pay for the TV or not ?0

fusionx212 wrote: »you are not legally obliged to go in and sign new paperwork as your paperwork is signed and set against you as per your copy of the agreement. this is legal and fair you enter into a contract in good faith you fulfilled your side by agreeing to pay they have the responsibility to file the paper work and follow the process correctly.
can you ring trading standards and confirm where you legally stand I am confident you will not have to pay.
You must be from the debt free wannabe board!. You agree to pay a set amount and then try and find every loophole to get out of paying it!. Then you have the audacity to call the loan companies the crooks :rotfl:0 -
Exact same thing happened to me 4/5 years ago, went to call up the finance company to pay the 90% balance and told me a few times there was no balance to pay! Who's really gonna argue? And the tv is still going strong0

Hi, no worries Dailboy just a thought, hope you get things sorted0 -
Personally I'd keep the telly and forget all about it now, you kept your side of the bargain by signing the agreement paying the 10% and trying to pay the balance, I'm pretty certain the retailer will have written off the "missing" balance by now.0

welcome to the real world.if I screw up in my job and don't process the stuff properly it's my problem. I can't just ring a customer up and say pay me.
the shop have insurance which underwrites these kinds of mistakes as well.
the op followed the agreement legally
maybe you should swing by the debt free wannabe forum and learn a thing or two.
we help and tolerate anyone there..
have a nice day0 -
Now to add to the quandary... I called the retailer, and they tell me they have lost all of my paperwork, and they now want me to come in to re-sign new documents!? Will this lead to an unnecessary second credit check - and again, doesn't this suggest they have no formal records of my purchase???
The answer to your question has been answered in post #2. Wait 6 years then you can sleep well at night again.0 -

So if the customer made a mistake and the business used this to get extra money from them. Would you still support this because the customer made a mistake so it's there problem, as you say ?0
