just wanted to update everyone, the CSA have finally decided to pay some of the arrears owed to me, they are calling this an advance payment.

Yesterday a cheque for £9409 landed on my doorstep (despite me asking for it to be paid by bank credit!) and another cheque is on the way for the interest, which I think will be another £1500 ish, making it £11,000 altogether! Am very very pleased, I came so close to giving up the fight so many times and thanks to you guys I carried on, and am so glad I have finally got some money and they have admitted maladministration. My ex still owes £29k but now owes £20k to me and £9k to the CSA.

Thanks to all who helped me out, you know who you are and I am off to plan a holiday for next year, am putting a bit away for each of the children, especially as DD1 starts learning to drive next year. I know it isnt a huge amount of money but it will make our lives so much nicer!

can i just ask how long it took for yours to be all done with.
im on 3 and a half years but my maintenance claim only started with DS father in October 2006 due to the csa mucking up and writing to the wrong man (a 77 year old deceased man!) and then they closed my case without me knowing,i first contacted them in July 2004 but i wont get back pay from DS father as they didn't first write to him until October 2006.
i was going to give up but im not now!

i just don't know what to do, the csa chat so much carp to me its unbelievable,they've never done anything to help this case,its allways been me who finds out his latest job and where,he tells them when they ring its inconvenient to speak right now and they let him off, phone him back as planned and oh how convenient, his phone is switched off :rolleyes:
he aparenly doesnt ever receive their letters,although he knows whats happening so obviously does get them!
its with the enforcements team at the moment but it will take at least 12 months to go to court....WHY????
he asked for a DNA test,i obviously agreed, but he never went to it so paternity was presumed.
They let him off over and over again.Did you ever fell like this ?

It has been 15 years in October since my ex and I split, I never received anything from him in all that time, and I have been obviously chasing the CSA for most of that time, actively pursuing other avenues such as legal action and my MP (although she was waste of time to be honest) for about 3 years now. I have felt like you, that my ex got away with it too lightly, the CSA didnt follow up information I gave them (and I always kept them up to date with his addresses etc) This money I have received certainly isnt all that I am owed, there is another 20k still outstanding, which some of it is under a Liability Order which the Enforcement Team are dealing with, which could take another 2 years so they say before anything happens. the slow way they deal with things has got me to boiling point on many an occasion, why does everything take so long?? They know his address, so just go round there! Keep on fighting, I was going to give up many a time after I had come off the ohone yet again in tears of frustration, but I am so glad I kept on complaining, until I have at last got somewhere and they have at least acknowledged they have been negligent in mu case. How do you get the csa to pay you the arrears?

If they have investigated a complaint and proved to have failed to do what they are supposed to have done this could lead to an advance payment. However it is very difficult to do as there are many hoops to jump through. What is owed and how has this amount built up?

Its only about £2500 - £3000 compared to your but thats been over 6 years mainly because they can never seem to track him down. I've given his works address this time I got one payment and they didn't hand over anymore. I didn't think they could do this straight from his wages?

I have had 1 payment in those 6 years
