Hoping to get more bidders on my ebay item. 2 days to go. The fact that someone is willing to pay £5 for a dress up costume I paid £30 for 5 years ago (DS 3rd birthday) is fantastic to me. The fact ita branded Disney helps Im sure. I wont bother listing anything else till it sells.

Bob, not sure if this is helpful, but as a regular seller / dealer, I have given up on ebay auctions, as I found I wasn't getting what I wanted for items. I prefer the fixed price / buy it now option - you state the price you want for the item (I add a bit on, say 10% which is the scale of discount I would offer to 'trade' if selling via my unit or at a fair). People can still offer below the asking price if they want to, and you can decide whether or not to accept. Items stay listed for 30 days. To be honest, I also personally prefer to buy via the buy it now option rather than faffing about for up to a week with an auction. After all, if you want to buy an item and you are happy with the price, or to try an offer, why not? When you are listing, the site tries to steer you towards the auction option, but it is easy to simply ignore this and list as fixed price.

If you are unsure where to pitch the price, look at the recent sold listings for similar items.

Dawn thank you for starting us this morning. I can see why you would like to keep a local presence to your business.

Enjoy your cake Grandad's Offspring. I find budgeting for all those regular expenses means we have better control of our over all spending.

Bob That made me laugh the thought of falling into the toilet. Thankfully it is only OH who lives the seat up, ds complains the same as the rest of us, pointing out it is called a seat, therefore it is for sitting on and not called a stand up :rotfl:
Agree regarding the meal plans, I'm trying to include dishes where depending on the accompaniments and adjusting for a cold or warm day. I seem to be coping about half the time.

Ally Have a wonderful holiday, we will miss you. Fantastic bargain on the insurance. Both ds & OH use duolingo, I keep meaning to start a language but I haven't got round to starting.

Foxgloves you seem to have achieved so much, your garden must be bursting with food.

Make the change glad you felt able to treat the children yesterday. Planned treats I find work best for me as I can budget and the children don't miss out. I make a big effort to include lots of free activities and we generally take our lunch, snacks and drinks with us.

Lego Sorry to hear about your sisters job, hope she finds a replacement very quickly. I very rarely by ice creams when we are out and when I do they are generally from a supermarket, saves a fortune.

Today has been a NSD, I have entertained and educated the children for free. All our meals have been from stores and the weather has allowed us to stick to the meal plan. As the weather brightened up this afternoon I have been able to dry a load outside. I have an urge to check the bank accounts, but their is very little point as me and OH will be have our monthly money chat, which includes checking the bank accounts, in the morning. I also placed a £500 order with wholesalers, thank fully the majority is other peoples.

I have spent an hour looking over ds year 7 Maths which we plan on starting next week, I understand the Maths it is just trying to get my head round the lesson plans. I planning on following the top stream and only using the work for the 2 other streams if he needs reinforcement. I have written myself a personalised lesson plan for us to follow and I have the main lesson plan to work from as a guideline. I have worked my way through the first unit, I should be able to review and write the rest whilst he is doing the independent part of each lesson.

    Cheap-er Holiday Planning Tips:

These are all tried and tested. Sorry, if you've heard this all before:

*Take empty tupperware boxes in your hold luggage to fill later with packed lunches. When packing place small containers of washing up liquid, washing powder etc inside these tupperware boxes so that if such containers break your clothes won't be damaged.

*Pack small quantities of over the counter medicines so that if you require something for an upset stomach/sore head/small cut/sunburn you don't have to get a taxi in a hurry to a pharmacy.

*Keep cool in hot weather by taking a cold wet flannel out with you in a Ziplock (or cheaper alternative) bag. Easily "recharged" and cheaper than Magicool (Link). This tip kept us a comfortable a few years ago in the ruins of Ephesus in a 55 degree c heatwave.

*Take a small tin full of Emergency Items in your Hold Luggage. Needle and thread. A meter of string. A rubber band. A safety pin. A pen knife. etc. All mean that you can make small repairs to things if you need to allowing you to shop for the cheapest replacement item if something breaks rather than having to buy a new item from the nearest, most expensive shop.

*Invest in a set of miniature toilettries bottles from the Poundshop or similar. Fill these with toilettries from home. So much cheaper per ml than buying miniatures from Superdrug.

Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.

Well we made it to the theme park was dry but very cold, it was a bit young for DS but he went on a few rides (the tickets were free and we came home with a free soft toy, a DVD and another ticket too as part of the prize - DS looked at the soft toy in the gift shop and it was £19.99  ) . We came home and DS was asked if he'd liked to go to a friends so off he went, we just pottered at home and have:

    Checked Bank
