steam pod

Does anyone own a steampod? I have been looking at them and thinking of buying. Are they any good on their own? I would not be buying the serums etc as they are also expensive.

I can't find anywhere how they work, do the plates get hot just as a standard straighter? with the only difference being the steam makes the hair damp before it gets straightened?

If the above is the case, I fail to see how that is different to buying a wet 2 straight straightener (which would be a lot cheaper) and using that on damp hair?

Thanks

I have a steampod and its great. I stopped using my GHD's in favour of this as my hairdresser said it would cause less damage.
It does get hot as normal straighteners and steam comes out, but your hair doesn't get wet !
    I would definitely buy again.

    Hi OP

Just wondering if you did go ahead and buy them and if so what you think of them?

    Tempted myself

Currently using second generation GHDs but my hair is pretty wrecked so particularly interested in these if they improve hair health...

Or anyone else who has these viewpoint

    Thanks

    Hi

I didn't get any in the end, I couldn't find out enough about them and it is a lot of money to spend if you don't know what you are getting. I asked my hairdresser and she didn't know about them either.

Before spending that much on something that can't be returned I would want to try them out first.

sorry I can't be of more help.

I've got one, it's very unwieldy.
I think it is a bit kinder to the hair but it's a faff. I wouldn't buy it again and seldom use it now.
I'm very curly and I'm trying to learn to live with that( 55 years and still hate it!)
I have a very small skinny pair of straighteners which I use to tweak a few bits around my face, the rest is crazy.
