Any advice on either SSE or BT broadband in Belfast speeds?

Hi,

I`m due to change broadband provider at the minute and was debating these two. Has anyone any advice particularly around their speeds? SSE advertises faster but is quite new so no real history to go on..

Many thanks:beer:

If you're only looking at speed VM is the way to go.

If you're looking at fibre, then there won't be much between them. Both will use BT infrastructure.

With vm at the minute, they're an extra 5 per month..

I have SSE broadband. I have no issue with speed. I have no issues with reliability either. My connection speed is much better with SSE. I have been with them one year. No issues.

Who were you with before though? And was it the same level of package.

I was with BT infinity 2. Great speed, but throttled sometimes. Worst customer service ever. I'd never be back.

VM was consistently good, much better than BT, never throttled and was cheaper if you didn't need the phone.

With SKY now, can't complain about the speed. £150 cashback through quidco and free TV. £45 a month for phone and BB. I'd say it worked out at around £30 a month minus the TV and cashback.

Do SSE offer broadband in Northern Ireland? They seem to have a good offer on at the moment, but anything I can find states that its limited to GB only...

Is there a distinction, given it's over phone lines etc.? My provider is somewhere in Yorkshire, I think... So long as it's not cable, you can sign up with more or less anyone.

Perhaps it's to do with software or hardware even at the exchange?
