Morning :hello:
Speky I'm so sorry to hear about your Gran xx
Gers Ouch! I hope it heals quickly x
The chickens have been dusted for lice. Most of the girls don't mind it being done, but Mogs hates it. She runs off as soon as she spots the tub of powder in your hand and when you eventually catch her she shrieks til you put her back down on the floor
Peanut seems to enjoy it, she coos then when you're finished she sits on your hand. Lower your hand to put her down down and she'll run up your arm and end up sitting on the back of your neck

I have mite powder at the ready, no sign of mites yet though, so that's good. I've ordered medicated food to prevent worms. So the girls are ready for summer.
I've dug out my old videos to use the tape as bird scarers – thanks again JackieO – and didn't realise just how many there are. I have lots of space now, more yarn storage for me

I had to put the lights on at 5pm yesterday, it went very dark and started raining. It's still wet and gloomy so I won't be doing my gardening jobs today, I'll have to find something else to do this afternoon. I'll be greenhousing for a bit this morning, then I have some paperwork to do. I also seem to have collected lots of scraps of paper over the last few days, with reminders and dates scribbled on them. I'll go through them and add them to the calendar or my Master List (as I like to call it, lol) then get rid of the scraps. They annoy me, hanging around like that, taunting me

Morning everyone,
Speky sorry for your loss.
Gers congratulations on the baby news and hope the thumb heals soon.
Tru we used to have chickens, until the fox got them, and I remember that we had a constant battle with mites.
I am off to Birmingham today to visit my M and D as it is my mum's birthday, she is 77.
I am leaving the girls at home to revise.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all,
Thank you for all your kind messages. Nearly in tears reading them all!
Yesterday, after work, my GF and I drove 2 hours to meet up with that side of the family to start discussions about the funeral. Contrary to my expectations, it wasn’t a morbid evening, rather it was more celebratory of my grans life. I was offered the chance to see her one last time but I chose not to, I just didn’t want the last time I saw her to be so sad. The death certificate was collected yesterday and we anticipate that the earliest we’ll have the funeral will be Wednesday of next week, which seems awfully far away.
I have a small family who tend to get on most of the time and it’s times like these when we tend to rally together which is nice. I can feel myself being a bit distant with work colleagues, friends and my importantly my GF which I feel guilt about but I find it difficult to be my usual all smiles and jokes.
Anyway, I need to keep organised with my life. It looks like I’ll need a new suit for the funeral so I’ll start shopping about. Furthermore, I’ll need another big batch of soup to make along with some other things for the week ahead.
“Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one's head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no to-morrow. To forget time, to forget life, to be at peace. You can help me. You can open for me the portals of death's house, for love is always with you, and love is stronger than death is.” – Oscar Wilde0 -
Morning all, wet and overcast here as it is in so many places today. I hope the rest of June is better.
This morning I was put bright and early to the post office as I realised last night that my driving licence runs out in a week. The post office do a good electronic service which I did there and then. Saves me getting a photo at one shop done and then posting. The woman that worked there said it should be back within a week. Fingers crossed, I would be lost if I couldn't get about in my old banger.
Hester I hope you get the dance class issues sorted. My son is school phobic because of severe bullying. Kids can be so nasty at times .
Jackie I hope you and your family have a love,y meal tonight. That place sounds like Jimmy spices, here in Birmingham, where I went for my birthday. We all left with full tummies.
Today I was meant to be meeting DD and DGC at the park. The rain has actually stopped but the ground is still very wet so I may just ask them to come here. The children can make a noise here.
Washing is done but it won't be going outside today. The tumble dryer will be on in a while sorting that. I brought chicken breast earlier so will be making something with that for dinner later.
I hope you all have a good day. Hugs to those struggling. Xxx“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. Your really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” Lucille Ball.0 -
Hello everyone and thanks to Hester for starting us off . Your poor little GD I hope matters get sorted quickly , at least now she is telling you of these things so the effort you've put in seems to have paid off . I hope your oh has a not too trying day . Take care x
I hope the thumb continues to improve Gers I love painting stuff but the older I get the harder it gets . Lovely news re the baby . On the day my mum
died my first grandchild came into the world weeks earlier than due . We like to think she sent her to comfort us .
RR wishing your Mum a speedy recovery .
Lainey I hope you feel better soon . How is Bill doing is he still on the bute ? I love all the discussion on the threads atm about birds . They can be such a joy and a source of great amusement . For more years than I can remember we have had generations of what appears to be the same bloodline as they all have a very distinctive white flash our other regulars don't have . Without fail they have at least one offspring who has totally lost the plot and gets into constant grief I have had to scale a 7foot fence while mum and dad bird are trying to rescue it and my job now is to coax it into the open . This is now demanded loudly of me and I am now part of the team although i don't recall an interview .
Have a lovely day Jackie and happy birthday to the birthday boy .
Speky What a beautiful quote . You will not be expected to be your usual bubbly self ,it is lovely you can all pull together at this sad time. Take care .
Sorry to say it is hot sunny and warm here yet again today . I am more than happy to send some to those in need of it . I want some rain because the humidity is relentless and after working hard in the garden yesterday I felt really headachy and sick . I didn't manage to eat my planned supper but luckily lunch had been very filling . After another sleepless night I am doing the bare minimum today as I am aching from lifting and shifting yesterday I hope to have the potato I didn't bake last night with spicy cheese and salad . I have decided to think about shifting a lot of the plants in heavy pots into maybe more raised bed - loads of good timber in the garage. My veg and herb beds are so easy to maintain deep , free draining and easy to weed so I think I shall make yet another few . I have had to water every night for nearly a week and it takes nearly two hours to soak everything properly except for the raised beds which need an occasional soak with the watering can .
Anyway seem to have waffled on so have a good day all , hugs to all who need . I shall make some chilled peppermint tea as I still feel a bit iffy and could do with eating something light for now .It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
Popping back with best wishes for the stress test tomorrow Csarina I hope all goes well .

Well my head got worse as the morning went on and my boss sent me home just after 11. Went straight to bed when I got in with a HWB and have only just woken up. The headache has subsided quite a bit but my nose is blocked with painful sinuses

It's still damp and cold here so have made myself a cup of tea but can't face food at the moment.
Think will stay home today as the girls at the yard will bring Bill in for me, he is on full livery just in case. He is still on Bute Polly as this cold, damp weather really doesn't help his arthritis at all and I hate the thought of him being in pain. Let's hope it changes soon as think we are all getting fed up being cold and wet.
So tonight will just be a relaxing time, hope I feel better tomorrow as we are supposed to be going out for a meal with friends0 -
House spick and span ready for Mum tomorrow. The sun is still shining, it was 23c at 4.30 when I took stuff to the tip.
I'm done for the day. It's feet up time. I'm off first thing in the morning for Mum.
I hope everyone's had a grand day, even if the weather hasn't been the best.0 -
Back home fuller of tummy if lighter of purse ,but the boys all enjoyed it along with DD son-in-law and I so well worth the occasional blow -out.Just going to put my feet up and watch Corrie on my TiVo box
Night all
