Legal Working Days in Row?

Is it legal for en employer to give you shifts that add to 17 in a row without a day off? These shifts being about half of 10 hour shifts and the other half 12 hour shifts.
And with this company they say if you refuse a shift, if they can't give you the full hours per month, you give up your right to get paid your guaranteed hours?
Thank you.
