Mortgage nightmare

Hello everyone. I'm new to this site.
Anyway my partner and I are looking to move we have sold out house and we needed to borrow another £25000 to move to a bigger home in a nice area. We have been with the same mortgage company for over 10 years and have never missed a payment. When we wanted to remortgage we explained that had missed 3 credit card payment as my card had been cloned. After what seemed like a thousand phone calls we finally received our AIP and were told they foresee no problems :j. However 3 weeks later after paying searches and instructing solicitors and putting in an offer on a house and it being accepted we get a DECLINE because of the missed payments.

My husband has now applied through a broker to virgin money he has an excellent credit score of 888 AIP arranged - he is applying alone now and has been given the AIP for the amount we need. Does anyone know how long virgin usually take or do they have any advice or experience. Big thanks

Hilary

If you are providing part of the deposit for the new property, i.e. equity from the current property. This may pose problems. Simply not applying for the mortgage isn't a way of circumnavigating the real issues.

Do you have some proof that your card was cloned, i.e. a crime reference number. How did the issue resolve did you have the stolen money credited back to your account?

Don't give up on being on the mortgage just because one lender declined you. There may be a way forward but without knowing all your circumstances I cannot be certain.

Did the mortgage broker you are using actually look for a mortgage for both of you or did he just say its better to do in your husbands name?

I would trust the broker. Virgin should be fine with this (based on what you have said, I have something similar going through with them). Virgin are pretty snappy at the minute so it should not be more than a couple of days to hear back.
