Hi,
Hope someone can advise please. It might be nothing to worry about, but just want to try to get things sorted before any searches are made.
The name on my bank accounts is slightly different to the name on the electoral role, because the council can't fit my long triple-barrelled surname on their computer, so they've just taken the first part.
This means that when I check all my credit files it says that I'm not on the electoral register.
Someone has mentioned filing an alias with the credit agencies, but then I read somewhere that this held up someone's mortgage because it's classed as a dispute on file (don't know if this is true?)
Looking at an AIP form, they ask for maiden names. So I assume I should add additional names here, although it's not really a maiden name. But do they just use these additional names for searching financial institutions, or do they also search the electoral roll with them?
Or is it something I can just add some extra information on a full application?

Speak to a broker.
I made an application for someone last week where the wife had a few variations of her name/maiden name...Nothing dodgy at all, but I wanted to ensure there would be no issues down the line.
I spoke to my account manager and the underwriters before applying and they were fine with it. I applied to a lender who has alightly higher rates than normal as the clients have other issues to overcome also but it can be done - although I am still waiting on the final sign off.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
