Moving Day

Ok we're just awaiting the valuers visit on the house we have agreed to purchase.

What I want to know is what is the process on the day we sell our existing property and buy our new one

I'm guessing:-

1. Packers/Movers arrive early on the morning of the move.
2. Load van/vans
3. Wait until pre-arranged time for us to get a call from the agents that the keys are with them
4. Collect keys & move in

I'm sure its not that simple??
One of the removal firms I spoke to have suggested a couple of trips from our existing house to the new one (its less than 5 minutes drive) Do we not need to empty our house completely before selling/buying??

It is that simple if everything is on time.
Yes you do need to empty your house by the time the buyers for your place turn up, so if you went with these movers, though no doubt they'd be cheap, you'd be one of the inconsiderate vendors who aren't moved out and hold up the buyer moving in.
It might work if you have minimal belongings, can empty the house and put some stuff in the garage for example, but in general it's a bad idea, it's not the five minutes trip that's the issue its the need to get everything out of the van and into the new house before the van can go back.

That was my thoughts, I'd rather get everything packed into a bigger wagon and have them waiting on the drive for the keys.
