Good Morning fellow DFW Peeps and welcome old timers and newbies alike :hello:
Welcome to the weekend !!!!!
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
So, this weekend I will:

So, this weekend I will:
- do piggy comps, clicks and surveys
- do some matched betting
- do a trawl of quidco, topcashback etc to see what I can sign up to!
- see a couple of extra clients
- stick to the meal plan - egg and chips tonight!
- not increase my debt in any way
- be positive!
- enjoy the sunshine if I can!

I had a long lie today (which was free!! lol)
I am cleaning my house, avoiding the shops, saving petrol and planning a store cupboard/freezer dinner! Getting my washing done now and first load is drying outside. no tumble drier and no ironing!
Got a bag of apples from my MIL's garden today, really tasty sweet ones, will not need to buy apples for a week or two. Also think i will make a pie.... (should be interesting!!)
I've done my piggy clicks which made me nowt (pah!) and Quidco clicks,
Plus I got a letter from DP's saying they have paid me a refund for the difference between my charges £15 and OFT ruing of £12 - not much for 12 charges x £3 but £36 off my balance! (must update my signature!)
I got a letter from Egg saying charges on my loan were acceptable so get lost, so i will write a letter querying that today too.
Yesterday i spent £5 on a french manicure nail polish set... i did my nails last night and they look fantastic! As good, if not better than £30 acryllics which i was getting up until about 3 months ago. It has taken that long for my nails to recover and grown back!!
Have a great weekend!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
I have listed 18 (yes 18!!!) things on ebay. Hoping to get nearly £60 in total excluding postage and fees! Took me all afternoon to list so at least I havent been able to go out and spend lol.
Also got my holiday photos onto comp and joined several photo printing comps ie truprint, kodak and photobox and managed to get 100 photos for total of £7 inc postage. i did it through greasy palm too so have earned cashback too. :j0 -
Hi everyone
This month I am trying extra hard to save money and not to be wasteful, am watching every penny and cannot believe that I have already saved £38 this month, that's money that I would normally have wasted away.
Usually if I have money left over that I had allocated to something, I would just see it as a bonus and blow it on whatever! I am so proud of myself and did another amazing thing today, went into Lidl to buy milk and eggs, and came out with ..... milk and eggs, oh and one chocolate lol, but am so chuffed.
Hope everyone had a great day saving money, I'm thoroughly enjoying myself. Am saving for a trip to New York next year for my birthday so that's really motivating me too.
Cheers

I spent £20 today - bought a Xmas pressie for someone (picnic hamper from a charity shop for £2.75 which I aim to fill with some home made cakes, cookies, shortbread and the like), also got a wooden Jenners wine box to go in it too which I will fill with the wine I inevitably get given by contractors! (Mum, if you're reading this, then, I guess you've worked out that it's a moneysaving Xmas this year!).
Also, cashed in a free coffee voucher at a local independent coffee shop here in Edinburgh, and then spent £3.50 on 2 Diet Cokes watching the Scotland game in a bar (I did try and stretch 1 of those out over 90 mins, but instead got one in either half).
Tomorrow, I'm off to get a new gearset for my bike as I start a new job in a weeks time and will be commuting by bike (for free!) every day instead of using the bus or the car. The repair will be cheaper than a month's bus pass, so seems a wise investment. Also, going to see a free movie courtesy of Seefilmfirst in the morning.
Although I've spent this weekend, both will save me cash over the next few months.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
Evening all! Today I have:
- done piggyclicks - didn't realise the london thing was every day, will be better at these from now on.
- done some of the surveys in my inbox.
- transferred money to a second current account to meet a direct debit.
- transferred ss money to my overpayment account.
- totted up what I've really made for the Olympic Challenge Take Two, which I was pleased with.
- put a divvy cheque into my cahoot account - and have finally run out of paying in slips. My word... just off to order them online. No I'm not, I'll wait till Monday.
- tomorrow, I will do a little bit - will try to check out what my weekly spend is from all my outgoings, and check again what I need to earn to cover that.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
