Will I be charged anything by my solicitor?

Hi, I've started a few threads on here about me turning down a property so I'm trying to answer as many other queries as I can to make up but I have one more question.
I found a solicitor, signed agreeing to their terms and then emailed them my ID documents. They said they were fine and asked if I could pay an amount up front so they could start working on the searches.
That was all on Friday and since then I decided not to buy the current property and have found another. I'm wondering if there's any chance I may owe them anything? I'm still planning on using them for the new property and I can't see that they could charge me anything when nothing has been done but would like to hear your thoughts. They didn't even get as far as running the searches.
Their terms say I'd have to pay for any work done if I pull out and I understand that but they're shut until Tuesday with it being bank holiday so I can't find out until then

I find it confusing that you keep opening threads on more or less the same subject , would be better if you kept your narrative to one thread to avoid duplication and make it easier for people to work out whats going onEx forum ambassador

If they've not received any money yet they won't have started searches and anything you've done already....providing the identity documents won't need to be done again. If you changed solicitors you might have a small charge to pay but as you say you're sticking with the same one and just changing the property you're buying there will be no extra charge.Mortgage_Moog wrote: »Hi, I've started a few threads on here about me turning down a property so I'm trying to answer as many other queries as I can to make up but I have one more question.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just ring on Tuesday and tell them you've made an offer on another property and will proceed with that one instead.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

I don't use forums usually sorry so I'm not familiar with the way they work.0 -
was not being nasty , was more for guidance

it its all in one thread we can look back and read earlier posts , if its in multiple threads I can search for you other posts but it can be a pain and some users will give up rather than trawl through multiple threads to give you a reply
As the other poster said , if you stick with the same solicitor they will probably just write off the first one unless they have incurred fees for searches or writtin to anybody on your behalfEx forum ambassador

I agree.
On PepiPoo, we have a "one case one thread" rule and it works really well, as the full picture builds up over time and you can see all the issues as they unfold.
One thread per mortgage application/purchase or similar would work really well on here too, IMHO.I am a mortgage broker. I once searched through someone's threads to put a question to them as I remembered something from earlier and I was accused of stalking them! :eek:if its in multiple threads I can search for you other posts but it can be a pain and some users will give up rather than trawl through multiple threads to give you a replyI am a mortgage broker.
