Haggling on dress

Hi,
Just wondering if it was common practice to try and haggle a little over the cost of a wedding dress? I'd like to but no idea how to go about it.
Thanks!

Haggling is all the same - you go in with a price in mind, and try to negotiate how you can get that price. You stand more chance if you're buying several items at the same time, get a package with accessories, have plenty of time before you need it, etc. You need for the seller to want your business more than you want theirs, lowball, and find a place in the middle for a package deal.0

Yes.. even I agree that you must set a budget for your dress then go for a shopping and try not to fall out of budget.0

Your position is *much* stronger if you are capable of walking away.
I know, once in a lifetime, but really? That's *their* business model, not yours. If they're adamant that they simply cannot go lower, please be ready to walk away.0 -
instead of haggling another tactic might be see who else stocks it....the prices can vary drastically from place to place.
or if you have nerves of steel theres always waiting for the dress to go "last season" and on to a form of sale rail.
my experience in the haggling dept for dresses has been a bit hit and miss but I do agree that buying more than one thing or buying something that does not require alteration is the easiest way to getting a slightly better dealfrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Always worth asking. Stores buy the gown in at a set price. The movement wont be on that, just the overheads that make up the rest :-)0
