Starting Paying the Mortgage

Hi All,

This may seem like a weird question, we finally completed on our house on 13th May (Yay!), and I thought we would receive some paperwork from out mortgage provider (Post Office / BOI) but we have yet to receive anything since confirmation of offer of loan six months ago! Our payment is due to be taken (we think!) on 1st of the month, I assume that we will be paying for last month (13-31th May) and the next month (1-30th June), hopefully no more!

Is this normal, or has something got lost in the post?

Thanks!

  • You should get an advice of first payment any day now - simple as that.

Probably be (varies by lender and i'm not familiar with Post Office) the interest component of (part) first month and normal payment of the second month added togetehr

You would have to check with your bank.

In my experience the first payment covers more than one month but isn't collected for at least one month.

I suspect your first payment would be due on 1st of July....if you've got your dates right.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

The direct debit has been seen up I think, at least a direct debit with no amount set or date has appeared on my Internet Banking going to BoI.
