So i thought it was set-up direct debit for 5 months. Then today i recieved a knock knock at the door be being wary i dont answer. If you've defaulted the payments then they will come looking for the full balance. The £235 is the enforcement fee charged, which is set in legislation, for attending to remove goods.
CraigI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Hi
If they haven’t been into your home already keep the door locked and don’t let them in as they can’t force entry. If you own a vehicle keep it in a garage, on someone else’s private property or well out of the way. Their options will be limited if they can’t access your belongings.
The key thing is to show willingness to pay based on how much you can afford. If they will not accept your instalments save them up as there will come a point where they either accept your payments or pass the debt back to the council.
