McKenzie Hall

About 6 weeks ago my father rang to tell me that he had received a letter at my old family home address asking if I lived there. It was regarding an old debt I had. I rang the number mcKenzie Hall left and spoke to someone who said I had to pay the debt, I told them that I no longer lived at that address and could they mail all correspondence to my address. I then (12th August) wrote them 2 letters one asking them not to mail my parents address and mail mine instead (worded to say I would contact trading standards etc and it was harrassment) and another telling them that my debt was over six years so unless they could prove it was less etc. I didn't hear back since.... but today my father rang to say they have had another letter looking for me!! How can I stop them from contacting my parents address - they obviously think if they keep contacting them then I may pay up?!
Any advice appreciated

Unfortunately Mackenzie Hall are more difficult to get rid of than a dose of ringworm, rinefitz. They are a particularily odious bunch of parasites and seem to have been created without ears, in order that they don't have to listen to reason.
For some good advice and to see how other victims have managed to deal with this infection, have a look through the following thread:
Oh, and just in case you, or anyone else, might think that my views on this festering pile of excretia are a bit biased - they are. :mad:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. But why are trading Standards ot OFT not doing anything about these people, I emailed Trading standards in Kalmarnock and they stated that they do not deal with debt problems but to contact OFT. I have emailed OFT and I am waiting for a reply.
This company has taken over my life for the last few weeks as I am waiting for the next letter.
I am now debt free but there maybe old things from 15 to 20 years ago that companies did not chase but did not try to hide from these companies as I lived at the addres for 18 years.

Hi, rinefitz-please be very careful when writing to these "people". Under the limitation act 1980 a debt becomes statute barred if there has been no admission or written contact from you over a 6 year period and after that the debt is no longer recoverable through the courts.****HOWEVER, if after the 6 year period you acknowledge that the debt is yours (in writing), the 6 year period starts again and the debt is again legally recoverable. These companies will try any thing to trick you or get you to admit that the debt was yours. GOOD LUCK......keith19500

You should always stat any type of letters like this with the statement
I DO NOT AKNOWLEDGE THIS DEBT in big bold letters.0 -

I agree with you MN, I always preface my letters with the following:
"I acknowledge no debt to your Company"
And use the letter that can be found on the following link:

Whilst this is, indeed, what these companies would LIKE you to believe, acknowledging the debt AFTER the six year period does not, in fact, make the debt any more recoverable. Once a debt becomes statute barred it will ALWAYS remain Statute Barred.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser.
