Hi
Just received a county court claim form from Lowell portfolio l Ltd . I used to a personal loan of provident (I know) back in 2007 and was paying it off until late 2008 . Stopped paying it and moved out of the property where I was paying the loan in 2010 moved a few times until now . And up and till late last year I hadn't heard a thing of Lowell portfolio or any other debt agency. Got a letter from Buchanan Clark & wells saying that the debt has been sold on to Lowell portfolio . And since then nearly every month Lowell sent me a letter saying on how to pay the debt ect ect until February .now today I received the county court claim forms . I've NOT spoken or acknowledged the debt since the last payment back in 2008 . Where do I stand ? Any help please . I ignored the letters from Lowell portfolio because I thought they were trying it on

They can, do and will try it on and they will pursue court claims even when they know the debt to be statute barred.
You must no only deal directly with the court or you will get a CCJ.
You should start researching a statute barred defenceI do Contracts, all day every day.0 -

Hi Farny
I can confirm that Lowell are a firm who are often involved in the collection of statute barred debts and that as you have seen they are not afraid to issue a few court claims, however speculatively. Some additional resources you may find useful besides those recommended above:
